Spain & Portugal Wine Tours

Though Italy is our forte, we expanded into Spain in 2007 and Portugal in 2010 due to client demand. It’s no wonder people are clamoring to go. In recent years, new wine regions—and great value wines—have cropped up all over Spain and Portugal. It’s also the case that historic regions like Rioja and the Douro Valley have experienced a revitalizing injection of new energy during these same years, centered around the rise of alta espresión wines in Rioja and the Douro DOC and Duriense table wines. Come explore!

The Past and Future of Spanish Wine

This tour focuses on Ribera del Duero and Rioja. The two winemaking regions, respectively new and old, will present two sides of Spain viticulture. We’ll also see the historic and cutting-edge featured in the architecture of the Burgos Cathedral and Bilbao Guggenheim Museum, and in the traditional and haute cuisine of Spain.

The Douro Valley and Oporto

Not just for Port lovers, this tour also features the Douro’s dynamic new wineries that are turning heads with their incredible table wines. Visit the historic lodges in Oporto where Port is aged. Then move upstream to the grape-growing region where Port and the new unfortified wines are made. Fall in love with the Douro river valley, a world heritage site.
