My mission this spring is to delve into the nebbiolo-based wines of northern Piedmont—not just Ghemme and Gattinara, regions that most Italophiles know by name, if not by firsthand. I’m also intrigued by wholly obscure regions like Bramaterra, Carema, Colline Novaresi, and Lessona. (I feel safe in saying “wholly obscure” when, [...]

Ah, what a blessing to work in wine. Yesterday’s Barolo tasting, organized by Pietro Ratti of the Renato Ratti winery for the Wine Media Guild, was tops: tightly focused (25 cru from 2005), coherent (organized by communes), with a mix of marquee and obscure names. Out of the [...]
About La Dolce Vita
LA DOLCE VITA WINE TOURS offers wine tours in Italy, Spain and Portugal. The company was founded in 1999 by me and my Italian husband, Claudio Bisio. We have 19 itineraries in three categories: gourmet wine tours, wine + walking tours, and wine-intensive tours. We keep our groups small and target folks who aren’t “tour people” but want a learning vacation, engaging dialog with winemakers, gorgeous settings, and stellar food. Is that you? Come join us for a taste of la dolce vita.
